Welcome to the National Internet Observatory (NIO) at Northeastern University. You are being asked to participate in a ground-breaking new research study seeking to create the most complete picture of online America. Learn more about the research here.
To participate, all you need to do is download our browser extension and answer occasional surveys. Before you can join, we need to explain the research and get your permission to collect data. This enrollment process will take 10-20 minutes. You will be compensated $10 for completing the enrollment and using the extension for at least a week.
If you are ready to enroll, you will need to complete the follow four steps:
- Click the link below to visit the Chrome Web Store and install our browser extension. For help installing our browser extension, visit our browser extension guide.
- Enter your email address into the tab that is opened by our browser extension. This email will serve as your username with the National Internet Observatory.
- Check your email for a message from the National Internet Observatory!
- Click the link in the email to complete our consent process.
After you complete the consent process, you will be enrolled in the study and the browser extension will be logged-in to your account with the National Internet Observatory.
